Launch at PICAC NSW of Building Futures

NSW Government representatives and Project Partners attended the launch of BFBB at the Glenwood campus.

Panel discussions with apprentices at the launch gave the audience additional insight into experiences of working in the plumbing industry. Without exception each apprentice was enthusiastic about their chosen career and keen to see more women and diverse groups make the same choice.

Pride in their work, support from their mentors and their hopes for the future of the industry stood out.

“I absolutely love my job. I started at 48 years old and feel supported and have never been fitter!” – Julie

“What do I find most rewarding? When I drive by a job I’ve worked on, like the Sydney Fish Markets, I can say I built that! – instead of my Dad always saying it.” – Amanda

“I think we should have a future that gives everyone an opportunity, no matter where they come from and who they are.” – Christian

As part of the Project we are speaking to a wide range of apprentices about their careers and hopes for the future to inform the development of a National Framework and training program.
