Building
Futures
Building Futures: Breaking Barriers is a bold, three-year national initiative uniting industry partners across the Australian plumbing sector, with support from the Australian Government’s Building Women’s Careers Program. Igniting a movement to transform plumbing from a male-dominated trade into an inclusive, future-ready industry, it challenges stereotypes, opens new pathways, and builds a workforce that reflects the diversity and potential of our communities.
Project Partners
The power of this program is in collaboration. At its core is a shared commitment—through the Pledge for Change, every partner has formally committed to taking practical action, embedding inclusive leadership and education, creating safer and more flexible workplaces, and ensuring the industry is accessible, supportive, and successful for a more diverse future workforce.
The organisations working together to lead this transformation are:
-
Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC)
-
The Plumbing and Pipe Trades Employees Union (PPTEU)
-
Master Plumbers and Mechanical Services Association of Australia (MPMSAA)
-
National Fire Industry Association (NFIA)
-
Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors’ Association (AMCA)
-
Cooke & Dowsett
-
Axis Plumbing
-
International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO)
-
Leemark Fire Protection
-
Master Plumbers' Association of Queensland (MPAQ)

Together, these partners form a strong and diverse coalition, proving that the future of the industry will be built through shared leadership and collective action.
